SITE PROPOSALS
Following feedback, the proposals have been carefully refined to create a simpler, lower-impact design. Decorative rustication around the original building has been removed to allow the existing façade to read more clearly. The glazed interlinking element has been reduced in height and streamlined, improving its relationship with the main structure. To lessen effects on neighbouring properties, the main rear and side extension has also been lowered, with the secondary element closest to the rear boundary reduced further. The side and rear design has been simplified by removing bay forms and render or stucco detailing. Finally, the roof finish has been amended from tiles to slate for a more traditional, context-appropriate appearance.

OUR OBJECTIVE

Our objective is to restore and upgrade the existing hotel building to create a bespoke, high-quality hotel that supports local economic activity and responds to changing needs. The proposals seek to significantly improve accessibility, providing step-free access and accessible rooms that meet modern standards. By doing so, the development aims to offer inclusive visitor accommodation that complements nearby healthcare and community facilities. At the same time, the refurbishment and repair of the building are intended to reinstate its architectural quality, strengthening the character and heritage value of the surrounding conservation area. Overall, the objective is to deliver a sensitive, well-designed scheme that balances commercial viability, accessibility and respect for its historic setting.
